Celtic fans will have heard the rumours that Martin O’Neill is not happy at Celtic after rumours swamped social media over the last few days. Those rumours have gathered so much pace that even the Parkhead boss’ close friend, Jim White has addressed them.
The Europa League is up next for Celtic as they travel to Stuttgart to see out the final leg after a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Parkhead.
And as social media peddles the nonsense about O’Neill possibly walking away from Celtic, Jim White said there is ‘no chance’ of that happening any time soon.Martin O’Neill will be in charge for Rangers vs Celtic as ‘unhappy’ rumours are quashed
O’Neill has been a breath of fresh air at Celtic in the two spells he has been in interim charge. But after two defeats, is he going to walk out on the club?Absolutely no chance, says White.
White told talkSPORT, “I came back from Spain last night looking at social media. Martin O’Neill reportedly not happy at Celtic.
“Was he going to be on his way out of the football club? Well, no. No chance of that, as far as I can gather. Martin is hanging on in there in his second interim spell in charge.
“They’re in Germany against Stuttgart tonight, of course, in Europa League play-off second leg.“Not great. 4-1 down from the first leg. Back-to-back defeats for Martin. Yes, he ain’t walking. Martin’s going to be hanging in there.”
Simon Jordan: “No!”
Danny Murphy: “To be fair to Martin, he wouldn’t be in this predicament if they hadn’t got rid of him the first time to bring in the other fella. They would have been in a much healthier position, wouldn’t they?
White: “Yeah, you bet. Martin is hanging on in and he’ll be there, of course, when Celtic cross the city on Sunday to take on Rangers in what is a crucial game.
”Ridiculous Martin O’Neill rumours
It appears that the anonymous online comments about Martin O’Neill and Celtic are being peddled in what looks like a spurious attempt to unsettle the club during a turbulent period and a tight title race.
Those rumours reached our ears at 67 Hail Hail this week too and they were treated with the disdain that White showed here.
Make no mistake, as the title race continues, Celtic fans will have to put up with this nonsense until the end of the season.
And when O’Neill eventually does leave, let’s hope it’s with a league and Scottish Cup double to cement his legacy as a Celtic legend.
