FORMER Celtic and Scotland star Leigh Griffiths faces c0urt over match-flxing alle gations, we can reveal.

The Tartan Army hero, 35, is subject to a warr ant by Scots authorities. It’s understood moves are under way to have him return from Australia, where he now plays.

He has been charged with the same fraud 0ffences as three others, including fellow ex-Hoops ace Paul McGowan, 38.

Cops previously quizzed Griffiths in 2022 over sports betting. He denied any wrongdoing.

The Scottish Sun told how McGowan appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 5 with fellow pro footballers Marc McNulty, 33, and Keaghan Jacobs, 36.Along with Conan McDiarmid, 40, they faced two allegations of conspiracy and being concerned in a fraudulent scheme.

They made no plea during the private hearing and were released on bail.

The case was committed for further examination.

Griffiths won seven league titles with Celtic between 2014-21. A year later he moved to Oz after spells at Dundee and Falkirk. He spent two years with Mandurah City then joined Stirling Macedonia.

His 22 Scotland caps included the match against England at Hampden in 2017 where he netted two free-kicks in a 2-2 draw.

Last month Griffiths revealed he hasn’t ruled out a return to Scotland in the future. He told the Let Me Be Frank podcast: “I’m happy doing bits of coaching here and there and playing.

“But can you rule out coming back to Scotland? Probably not. I still have my girls there and I’ve got custody of my two boys now.“The thought of going back to Scotland and seeing them and my family — I will never rule it out.”

McNulty, from Edinburgh, won two Scotland caps and is now at SPFL League Two side The Spartans.Ex-Livingston midfielder Jacobs, is from Edinburgh, while McDiarmid lives in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.
