WĀTCH — You will absolutely HA-TE Celtic fans after seeing what the An-gry Emotional supporters did to poor Martin O’Neill upon full time whistle in Tannadice in viral video circulating on social media

Posted on March 23, 2026 by Mrsport

In a dramatic twist during the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership title race, Celtic suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss to Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Goals from Will Ferry in the 51st minute and Emmanuel Agyei in the 63rd minute left the Hoops reeling, dealing a significant blow to their hopes of closing the gap on the league leaders.

The defeat was Celtic’s first in several weeks and left them in third place, piling pressure on interim manager Martin O’Neill. The 74-year-old Northern Irishman, a bona fide club legend from his hugely successful first spell at Parkhead (2000–2005), returned to the dugout in January 2026 after a short-lived stint by previous boss Wilfried Nancy. O’Neill was brought in until the end of the season to steady the ship.

But if a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) is to be believed, sections of the Celtic support showed no mercy toward their veteran boss.

Posted by Rangers fan account @SpursWinTrophys, the clip purports to show “Martin get to fuck!” chants echoing around Tannadice as the full-time whistle blew. The poster captioned it: “Not nice scenes at all, and certainly not the way a so called ‘club legend’ should be treated by his own support.”

The video quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of views, sparking fierce debate across social media and Old Firm forums. Rangers supporters seized on it as proof of Celtic’s “entitled” fanbase turning feral after a rare setback. Some replies mocked the scenes as “disgusting” abuse aimed at a pensioner.

However, the authenticity of the footage has been hotly contested.

Multiple Celtic fans and neutral observers immediately accused the clip of being edited, claiming the audio was lifted from older Rangers supporter chants directed at Russell Martin — the former Southampton boss who had an ill-fated 123-day spell as Rangers head coach in 2025 before being sacked.

Forum users on Follow Follow and other platforms were quick to call it out: “I think that’s a wind-up mate. Is it not Rangers fans singing at Russell Martin?” and “I don’t think that’s the real audio…”

Similar accusations flooded the replies to the original post, with some Celtic supporters posting counter-evidence and labelling the uploader a “clown” for allegedly splicing in rival audio to stir trouble.

Mainstream coverage of the match focused on the football itself rather than any pitchside abuse. Celtic’s official site described it simply as a “disappointing defeat” on a “challenging pitch,” while O’Neill himself appeared for post-match media without any reported fan backlash making the headlines. Sky Sports showed standard full-time scenes, but no mass chanting against the manager.

Whether the viral clip is genuine fan discontent or a cleverly edited troll job typical of the intense Glasgow rivalry, it highlights the brutal pressure on managers in Scottish football.

O’Neill, who has delivered trebles and memorable European runs with Celtic in the past, now finds himself in a results-driven environment where even legends are not immune to criticism after a poor result.

With eight league games remaining and the title still mathematically alive, the coming weeks will determine whether O’Neill can silence the doubters — or whether “Martin get to fuck!” becomes more than just a disputed social media soundbite.

One thing is certain: in the cauldron of the Premiership, loyalty can disappear as quickly as a bad result.
