BREAKING — Six Celtic men ARRESTED at Sunday’s Old Firm game over these lncidents

Six men were taken into custody at Sunday’s Old Firm clash following incidents involving a sectarian banner, drugs and an alleged assault.

The arrests came as Celtic were forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate with Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.Those detained included two 18-year-olds, a 26-year-old and three men aged 28. One of the teenagers was charged over an alleged assault, while the other faced charges linked to the alleged possession of a sectarian flag.

Both were scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.A 26-year-old male was charged in relation to drugs offences. He was subsequently released on an undertaking and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

One 28-year-old man was also apprehended over a drugs-related matter. He received a recorded police warning.

Another 28-year-old was arrested in connection with an alleged assault and was likewise given a recorded police warning.

A third 28-year-old was charged in relation to an alleged assault. He too was released on an undertaking to attend court at a future date.Officers are also investigating disturbing scenes in the away section after several Celtic supporters were allegedly seen mocking the Ibrox disaster during the match.

Some Hoops fans were recorded making offensive gestures during the 2-2 draw against their fierce rivals. One individual was filmed displaying the number 66 on his mobile phone — a reference to the Rangers supporters who died in the 1971 stairway crush.

Another supporter positioned in front of him appeared to make a diving motion with his hands, widely regarded as another distasteful gesture linked to the tragedy. Meanwhile, a nearby fan wasseen making a gun motion with his hands.

Police confirmed that enquiries into the incidents are ongoing and that no arrests had been made in relation to those particular events, as Rangers condemned the behaviour. A club spokesperson said: “It is frustrating and upsetting to be dealing with another instance of tragedy abuse.

“After a similar event last season, an individual was prosecuted, highlighting there are serious consequences for such actions. The club will fully support theauthorities in any investigation into this matter.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault. Additionally, an 18-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with possessing a sectarian flag. Both are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with drugs offences. He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

“A 28-year-old man was arrested inconnection with a drugs offence. He was issued with a recorded police warning.

“A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with an assault. He was issued with a recorded police warning.
