Tottenham ‘would allow’ Spurs player to make Rangers move this summer as alternate Ibrox plan theory emerges

Posted on February 25, 2026 by Mrsport

A pundit has claimed that Tottenham would be open to allowing Mikey Moore return south of the border this summer – but Rangers may have an alternate plan.

Mikey Moore joined the Light Blues on loan from the Premier League side last summer and after a slow start under Russell Martin, the arrival of head coach Danny Rohl has sparked the promising Spurs talent into life.

It’s got some asking whether or not Rangers will be back in for him this summer.Barry Ferguson is an Ibrox icon and watched Rohl’s side in training last week with a host of other Light Blues legend. Serving as interim manager last term, he discussed Moore’s future at Tottenham and Rangers on Go Radio, alongside ex-Aston Villa, Celtic and Norwich City coach Peter Grant.Barry Ferguson on Mikey Moore
He has loved watching him play for Rangers in a variety of attacking roles and believes the loan has been of benefit to all parties.

A question now sits of what happens once it expires in the summer.Ferguson said: “He makes things happen. Listen, he came up here as a boy and he’s grown into a man. There’s no doubt about it. He’s had a new lease of life under Danny Rohl.

I really like him centrally. I think he’s so dangerous, but listen, the great thing about him is the young man can play on either flank. When he plays just in behind in that kind of floating role behind a main striker, he’s so dangerous.“Do you know what I love about him? He gets the ball and his first thing is he’s direct.

He goes towards the goal. He’s always looking to go and get at defenders. Yeah, I just, I really like him. We spoke about it a couple of weeks ago. This is going to be the issue. I think Rangers has been good for Mikey Moore and it’s been good for Tottenham as well for his development.

What’s Tottenham going to do with him in the summer? Why would Rangers buy Mike Moore from Tottenham?
Grant, who has coached south of the border at youth level with sides like Fulham, believes Tottenham would sanction another move north for Moore but Rangers would explore a profit opportunity in buying him outright. He said: “Tottenham would allow me to stay up here.

Tottenham would allow him to stay up here and I think Rangers would buy him.“I think Rangers would buy him because then they think they could sell him on. You know the thing that surprised me with all of that, remember I said months and months ago when he came up and Russell Martin signed him.

“I can’t believe he’s playing him wide right. I said he is in behind the striker and he is a threat. It doesn’t matter, forget his age. He is a threat when he plays in there. I have seen him a lot at Tottenham as a kid. That’s his only position.”
